Help for teachers
Learning outside the classroom

Our 14 National Parks contain a huge range of landscapes, habitats, history and rural communities. As well as providing opportunities for learning, recreation and exercise they offer space, tranquility and an invaluable contrast to urban lifestyles. We think its important that all young people have the opportunity to experience these places and their special qualities, which is why we have signed up to support the learning outside the classroom manifesto.
The National Park education teams are here to help teachers and educational groups get the most from our outdoor classrooms and can help with a diverse range of subjects, such as geography, environmental management, wildlife conservation, tourism and sustainable communities.
Help for school groups

The education teams can help by:
- Supplying course materials and publications linked to the national curriculum.
- Recommending key locations and activities within the National Parks to help learning objectives.
- Giving specialist teaching out in the field or in a classroom, sharing local knowledge and a fun 'hands-on' learning experience.
Use the links at the foot of the page to find out more about the education services offered by each National Park.
Residential study centres
National Park Authorities run four residential centres offering courses for children and adults, both for the public and environmental professionals.
