Accessible Broads

Activity:

Barton Broad boardwalk and trip on solar-powered boat Ra

Location:

Car parks for walk start point and boat trips at Gay's Staithe;

Car park for disabled visitors at start of boardwalk;

Description:

The boardwalk leads through swampy, wildlife-filled carr woodland and emerges to give a panoramic view over Barton Broad. The solar boat Ra will take you on a guided tour of Barton, which is owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust and is the second largest of the broads.

Barton Broad is a great place for wildlife on land or water, including the chance of seeing an otter, and hearing or even seeing a bittern. Other birds you may see include the kingfisher and marsh harrier, and there’s an abundance of wild flowers and dragonflies.
