Completing a tree passport activity worksheet in the New Forest

Activity aims:

To investigate the types of trees growing within the National Park. This activity enables students to identify, measure, record and get up close and personal with trees.

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Measure, identify and record information on a variety of tree types
  • to work together in a variety of different ways
  • gather primary data through fieldwork

You will need:

  1. Tall Trees Activity Guide
  2. Tall Trees - Calculating Tree Age

  4. Tall Trees - Tree Facts
  5. Leaf identification guide (from the Woodland Trust website)
  6. Tape measure
  7. Clinometre (not essential)
  8. Crayons for bark rubbing
  9. Clipboards
  10. Paper and pencils
