Sport: Cycling

Gold medal-winning cyclist Nicole Cooke, from South Wales, did much of her training for her Beijing 2008 win in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

She said: "With great views from every angle, training in the Brecon Beacons National Park has provided some of the best preparation for competitions I could ask for.It has given me the opportunity to ride in an amazing landscape over some really challenging and diverse terrain."

Her favourite ride includes a route which takes in the saddle between Cribyn and Fan y Big near the Beacons' highest summit, Pen y Fan.
