Terms and conditions
By entering the competition you are deemed to accept these terms and conditions. If you are under 18 you must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to enter.
The Competition will open for entries at 1200 GMT on Monday 18 March 2013 and will close at 1800 GMT on Friday 26 April 2013.
Entries received after this deadline will not be accepted.
No responsibility is accepted for network, computer hardware or software failures of any kind which may restrict or delay the sending of your entry. No responsibility is accepted by UK ANPA for entries lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete or which cannot be entered for technical or other reasons. Proof of entry is not proof of receipt.
Entry details / Images
The competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers.
You may use any type of camera or mobile phone to create your images. It is highly recommended that you use the highest quality setting your camera can achieve.
All competition entries must be made using the official online entry form.
All entries, whether taken digitally or on film, must be submitted electronically to the website address www.nationalparks.gov.uk/visiting/photo-competition Scans from film or prints are acceptable. Entries will not be accepted by post, hand or email.
Entries must be JPEG files of 1Mb in file size as an absolute minimum. Please submit the maximum quality JPEG but do not exceed 25Mb.
Your image must be taken within the official boundaries of one of our 15 UK National Parks. Your entry details must specify where the image was taken.
Your entry must be in keeping with the ‘Activities’ theme and must feature people.
Entries may be in black and white or in colour.
You can enter an image taken at any time in the past.
Retouching / manipulation of digital images is accepted provided that all works are original works and not copies of other people's works.
You can enter an image that has previously been entered into or has won another photography competition, provided that, by doing so, you are not in breach of the terms and conditions of this or any other photography competition.
You may enter as many images as you wish – but please do so using a separate form for each image.
Prizes and judging
The shortlisting panel will comprise the UK ANPA Team, Alex Hyde Photographer Peak District NPA and a representative from Merrell.
The winning image will be chosen from the shortlist by Ben Fogle and will be officially announced on Friday 24 May 2013 – via UK National Parks Website and through our social media channels. We'll also publish the shortlisted images on that date too.
UK ANPA may change its advertised panel of judges in the event of circumstances outside its control.
The judges' decision is final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into in respect of their decision.
The person whose image is chosen as our winner will receive their choice of footwear from our brand partner Merrell’s Spring Summer / Autumn Winter range (one pair).
The prize is non-transferable and there is no cash equivalent. The prize must be chosen from the Merrell SS/AW range by Friday 28 June 2013.
By entering the Competition you release UK ANPA from and against all claims and damages arising from or in connection with your participation in the Competition. You agree to comply with these Rules of Entry.
Details relating to any prizes will be sent to the winner within 14 days of the winner being announced.
You are responsible for informing UK ANPA of any changes to the information entered on the entry form, in particular of any change of contact details at any time before the closing date.
You will not submit any photographs that are obscene, vulgar, pornographic, hateful, threatening, racist, sexist, discriminatory, or which otherwise violate any local or international laws. No nudity is allowed. Children and babies must be wearing at least a nappy and if your image does feature children you must have their parents’/guardian(s)’ legal consent for the image to be published online or in hard copy.
The UK ANPA Co-ordinator will ultimately decide if something is appropriate or not and whether it is eligible to be entered into the competition.
NPA Officers and Members / UK ANPA Staff / Merrell Staff and their immediate family members may enter this competition but will not be eligible to win a prize.
Copyright and usage
By submitting images to the competition, you confirm and warrant that:
- You are the sole author of each entry and that it is your original work
- You own the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each image
- You have the permission of those pictured in the image (or, where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent or guardian) for the usage rights required in the section on licensing below and will indemnify UK ANPA against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement
- You have not licensed or disposed of any rights in the image that would conflict with uses to be made in the licensing section below
- You agree to take part in any post-competition publicity
Entrants retain the copyright to images submitted.
By entering the competition, you grant the UK ANPA a non-exclusive, irrevocable license to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the images. This may include, but is not limited to:
- News coverage of the competition
- UK National Parks website
- UK National Parks Facebook fan page
- UK National Parks Twitter feed and Blog
- Associated exhibitions
- Associated publications – such as leaflets and reports
- For use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional and specialist press giving information about or promoting the 2013 competition and future competitions.
Images used on merchandise commissioned by the organisers will be discussed individually with the photographer concerned and a separate agreement made.
The photographer must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of photos entered into the competition. You will retain full copyright for your image. Whenever your image is published by UK ANPA you will be credited. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition.
Entrants details will be stored for the purposes of the competition. By entering the competition, entrants agree that UK ANPA can collect, save and process the personal data provided (the Data) for the sole purposes of the competition.
UK ANPA reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition, the Rules and the terms and conditions of entry at any time and without prior notice. Any changes will be posted either within these terms and conditions or in the competition details.
